A good week for wintering
A month or two ago, around the equinox, we discussed the two colliding autumn instincts to burrow and to migrate, one saying "Dig in!" while the other says "Go!" But the time comes, usually around this point in the season, where we've either excavated our tunnels or flown south, and our instincts align on the practice of wintering.
Try to practice your wintering skills this week, so you'll be in top shape for the next few months. Set a new speed record running a bath. Loosen up your wrists for a season of soup-stirring. Do a little stretching in advance of your dive under a cold comforter. You may feel rusty at first, but it will all come back to you!
