Ostrich Weekly Forecast: Nov 4
An injunction, and a look at the month ahead.
I told our weatherman I was too afraid to hear which sorts of things are lucky or unlucky, favored or unfavored, likely or unlikely, for the coming week. "Doesn't matter if it's good news or bad," I told him, "either one would make me crazy." I did ask one thing: Does our country still exist at the end of the week? He assured me that, yes, our nation will still be a nation, as far into the future as he can see. (Next Wednesday-ish.) He also promised me that the biscuit place, the one restaurant that's close to my house, with the smoked chicken biscuit and the cheesy grits, will still be open next weekend. I can smother butter all over my feelings, whatever they are at that point.
Turning, then, to the calendar, I see I already missed National Fountain Pen Day (the first Friday in November), which is very unlike me. November 1st was also National Cinnamon day. I think I celebrated.
If you haven't voted by Tuesday, OBVIOUSLY DO THAT!
Other interesting days this week include:
National Candy Day, November 4th (Come on, candy, it's four days after Halloween. No one wants you.)
National Donut Day, Nov 5, and National Nacho Day, Nov 6.
Wednesday is also National Stress Awareness Day, which is too much like a prediction for my liking.
Thursday is National Men Make Dinner Day, which is way too much like a prediction for my liking.
Looking forward in the month:
November 14th is both National Pickle Day and National Spicy Guacamole Day; don't know how you'll choose. The 17th is National Homemade Bread Day and National Take a Hike Day. I suggest the second, if you're doing the first. Espresso and Cashews get their day on the 23rd, sardines on the 24th, and cake on the 26th. French Toast Day falls on the 28th, but let's get real, we're not making french toast on the morning of National Alan Day.
