Ostrich Weekly Forecast: Oct 7
Extended conditions of unusual randomness.
The Ostrich Weekly Forecast was previously a perk for paid members. Now it's free for all Daily Ostrich subscribers.
We've entered the "nothing special" stretch of the year, which is also, counterintuitively, the "anything goes" part of the year. To see how that can be, have a look at this Wednesday. Wednesday is National Stop Bullying Day, National Emergency Nurse's Day, Take Your Parents to Lunch Day, and Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work Day. The people behind those holidays all tried to think of a random day when nothing much is hopping, and they all, independently, chose the second Wednesday in October.
This is in keeping with the forecast. According to our weatherman, we can expect unusual randomness. Probably nothing much will happen, at least nothing with an evident pattern. But it could rain chocolate sprinkles. Dress in layers, is what I'm saying.
Also on the calendar this week: Today is National Noodle Day; I hope you're using yours. If not, it's also Mad Hatter Day, so you're covered either way. The 8th is Pierogi Day, the 9th is Moldy Cheese Day. Happy National Handbag Day, on the 10th, to all who celebrate. The 11th is National Coming Out Day and National Sausage Pizza Day, which has a certain symmetry. The 12th is National Farmers' Day and National Gumbo Day. Raw deal for the farmers, I'd say. Like having your birthday on Christmas.
In the near future, you'll be able to subscribe to the Weekly Forecast separately from the feature articles. For now, if you like one or the other, hang tight.
