Lost arts, new beginnings, and the Ghosts' Jubilee.
Modern people, most of us, have lost the knack for flint and tinder. We have easier ways to start a fire, and we only start a fire when we feel like it. Yet something is lost when we trade a skill for technology. So it's good luck (maybe) that our weatherman predicts an ideal week for reviving lost arts. If you've been keen to weave a tri-color basket, or try your hand at cloisonné enamelwork, have a go. Otherwise, it might be time to resurrect a personal lost art. Riding bikes with your friends, for instance. Engineering sand castles. Talking to strangers. Drawing pictures for the fun of it. Now's the perfect time to polish up those former joys that have accumulated rust.
This week brings the start of spring, which lends itself to new beginnings. For me that means a Spring of Mindfulness. For you—what feels exciting? Do send me your theme, if you're picking one this spring!
And good news for spirits—it's the Ghosts' Jubilee! Any soul doomed to haunt an earthly dwelling is hereby given an early reprieve. That's great for the ghosts, but those of us selling haunted house tours are SOL. Also this week: National Ravioli Day, National Spray Tan Day, and National Common Courtesy Day, if any of that piques your interest.
